CONTEXT Located in the heart of the vibrant Paolo Sarpi district in Milan, renowned for its energy, cultural diversity, and lively street life, this B&B apartment benefits from its proximity to a unique mix of shops, restaurants, and cultural influences, making it the perfect base to explore the city. With an area of 35 square meters, the apartment has been designed to meet the needs of short stays, offering a welcoming and functional retreat. Thanks to a design that combines playful colors, clean lines, and smart layouts, the space blends seamlessly with the dynamic and contemporary atmosphere of the neighborhood, providing guests with an authentic and memorable Milanese experience.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION The renovation focused on optimizing the compact space to create a cohesive and versatile living environment. The integration of the kitchen, dining area, and sleeping area achieved a visual and functional flow, with a fresh and modern aesthetic ideal for short stays.
The kitchen, featuring olive green cabinetry and Calacatta marble-effect countertops, serves as the visual and functional centerpiece of the apartment. Open shelves and smart storage solutions enhance practicality without compromising the light and contemporary style. Adjacent to the kitchen, a dining island also functions as a workspace, ensuring versatility for guests.
A sofa bed doubles as both a daytime seating area and a bed, complemented by custom shelves that display art objects and decorations, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. A walk-in closet, connected to the living area through a sliding door, provides an elegant and practical alternative to traditional wardrobes.
Thanks to the careful arrangement of elements, the bathroom not only offers a sense of space and order but also discreetly conceals an area for appliances, accommodating both a washing machine and a dryer. This smart solution ensures functionality without compromising the elegance of the design.
INTERIORS
The terrazzo flooring, used throughout the apartment, visually connects the spaces while adding a touch of Milanese tradition reinterpreted in a contemporary key. Custom-made lamps, characterized by geometric shapes and vibrant shades of yellow and green, add character and vibrancy to the interiors.
The bathroom was designed with a minimalist approach, focusing on clean lines and a greater sense of space. White tiles with soft green grout echo the apartment's color palette, while recessed shelves and a green vanity unit add elegance and functionality. Warm integrated lighting highlights these elements, creating a relaxing and modern environment.
MATERIALS AND FINISHES Original features, such as the windows, were preserved and refurbished to maintain the building's authentic character. Custom-made furnishings, including built-in benches and shelves, introduced a modern touch to the space. The harmonious palette of white, green, and yellow, combined with the natural textures of terrazzo and wood, creates a lively yet soothing atmosphere.
